Author: Sun Tzu
6th century BC

The Art of War is one of the oldest and most successful books on military strategy. It has had an influence on Eastern military thinking, business tactics, and beyond. It is said to be the definitive work on military strategies and tactics of its time, and still one of the basic texts.
I believe this is a good book for anyone who cares about the future of their country, selves, or business. If the leaders of the USA would take the time to read this and take it to heart, there would be less problems in the world and the USA would emerge more powerful than ever.

Sun Tzu suggested the importance of positioning in strategy. He thought that strategy was not planning in the sense of working through an established list, but rather that it requires quick and appropriate responses to changing conditions. Planning works in a controlled environment, but in a changing environment, competing plans collide, creating unexpected situations.

Quotes from The Art of War":
"6. There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare."
"7. It is only one who is thoroughly acquainted with the evils of war that can thoroughly understand the
profitable way of carrying it on."
